Karnataka: MLA attacked by locals after Elephant kills woman
Following the death of a woman in an elephant attack in a village, some residents of Hullemane Kunduru village were detained on Monday on accusations of attacking BJP MLA M.P. Kumaraswamy from Mudigere Assembly constituency.
Sources claimed that the locals were protesting while carrying the body of a woman who had been killed by an elephant. Late in the evening, BJP MLA Kumaraswamy paid a visit to the location.
The BJP MLA was criticised by the villagers for failing to address the elephant threat and for being late.
They afterwards pursued him. The MLA was saved and led to his vehicle by police amidst stone-throwing.
Later, a BJP MLA released a video along with a statement in which he claimed that the villagers had mistreated him.
