Home Secretary meeting with AP and TS officials ended without concrete solution
In order to resolve outstanding issues related to the Reorganization of Andhra Pradesh Act 2014, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Tuesday presided over a significant meeting with senior Telangana and Andhra Pradesh officials.
Somesh Kumar, the chief secretary of Telangana, and Sameer Sharma, the chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh, together with other senior officials from both states participated in the meeting. The conference included special chief secretaries of finance, power, and municipalities from Andhra Pradesh as well as nine higher-ranking Telangana officials. Officials from the Central departments of food, education, agriculture, petroleum, health, and railway board have also joined the conference.
The meeting's agenda was divided into bilateral and other topics for discussion. Seven important topics are on the agenda for the meeting, including the apportionment of institutions not mentioned anywhere in the Act, the division of the Andhra Pradesh State Finance Corporation (APSFC), the division of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), and the division of Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery Engineering Ltd. (APHMEL).
Except for one or two issues, none of the others were clearly defined, according to the reports. After recognising the outstanding pending issues in both states, the Home Ministry is likely to find a resolution in the upcoming days.
