'Modi world's powerful...': UK lauds PM's 'not era of war' message to Putin
The greatest public response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine came from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the moment was not right for war.
The UK praised the PM a day after the French President remarked, 'Modi was right.' Modi has a powerful & influential voice on the global stage, according to the UK Foreign Secretary. James Cleverly, the UK's foreign secretary, told the PTI that they were hopeful Vladimir Putin would heed the pleas for peace made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others. Not only the UK and France, but also the US had applauded Modi for telling Vladimir Putin that the conflict in Ukraine was not the moment for war.
The world was kept together by democracy, diplomacy, and discussion, Modi had said to Putin on the sidelines of a conference in Uzbekistan on Friday. 'Today's era is not an era of conflict, and I have spoken to you on the phone about this,' he had said.
