Hate speech: SC says role of TV anchors critical, asks why govt a mute spectator

21-09-2022 Wed 20:59

The Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned the government about its silence over hate speech on major news channels and questioned whether it intended to pass legislation to prevent such actions in the coming days. The Supreme Court ruled that there should be an institutional framework in place to deal with hate speech after hearing a number of petitions on it and rumor-mongering.
