In order to boost its combat capabilities in eastern Ladakh against the backdrop of the protracted border standoff with China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday handed over to the Army a variety of indigenous military hardware, including unmanned aerial systems and quick reaction fighting vehicles.

In light of the military standoff with Chinese troops in several flashpoints for more than two years, the government's efforts to improve the combat capability of the armed forces included the handing over of the new equipment.

The new boats, called Landing Craft Assault (LCA), are being used to maintain a rigorous watch on the Pangong Tso lake in eastern Ladakh. They are outfitted with cutting-edge surveillance technology and other equipment.

Rajnath Singh professed confidence in the technologies and equipment's ability to improve the Indian Army's operational readiness and effectiveness.
