SC rejects MP Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju's request to quash the FIR
A petition by the MP K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju and his son Bharat requesting the Supreme Court to order the cancellation of a FIR filed against them at the Gachibowli police station for allegedly assaulting an intelligence policeman who was on duty was dismissed on Friday.
According to the reports, the Narsapuram MP, his son Bharat, his personal helper and others were the subject of a case opened by the Gachibowli police on the basis of a complaint made by Farook Basha, an AP Intelligence policeman, on July 4. When the Prime Minister visited ISB, a constable who was on duty in Hyderabad was allegedly picked up by the Narsapuram MP's security team. The AP officer was allegedly restrained and reportedly abused for some hours reportedly by MP's men.
However, because the matter was still in the FIR stage, the Apex Court dismissed the plea during the Quash Petition adjudication process. The SC said, "Let the investigation proceed."
