Part 2

When a man tried to take Rs 500 from an ATM in the Maharashtra district of Nagpur on Wednesday, the machine discharged five times more cash. According to news outlets, instead of a single note, he received five Rs 500 notes from the cash dispenser. Surprisingly, he repeated the process and received Rs 2,500 cash again.

The news spread quickly, and residents hurried to withdraw money from the ATM. A large crowd soon gathered around the ATM to withdraw cash. Due to a technical glitch, the ATM was apparently spewing additional cash. This continued until one of the bank clients notified the local police, who immediately shut down the ATM and notified the bank management.

The currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were mistakenly put in the ATM tray designed to issue notes of Rs 100 value, according to the official.

The event was reported at Khaparkheda, a town about 30 kilometres from Nagpur.
