Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik gets life in jail in terror funding case

Yasin Malik, a Kashmiri separatist leader, was sentenced to life in jail by the Patiala High Court in Delhi for sponsoring terrorists and terrorist actions. Yasin Malik was sentenced to two life terms in prison despite the fact that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had sought the death penalty against him. Yasin has received two life sentences and five ten-year prison sentences. The sentences will run in parallel. According to sources, a monetary penalty of more than Rs 10 lakh has also been imposed.
The case stems from suspected terrorism and secessionist activity in the Kashmir valley in 2017.
Jammu and Kashmir has been placed on high alert following the sentencing of Yasin Malik.
