Navjot Singh Sidhu gets 1 year in jail in 34- year-old road rage case

In a 1988 road rage case, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced to a year in prison. Navjot Sidhu is required to appear in court. On December 27, 1988, Sidhu allegedly hit Gurnam Singh on the head, resulting in his death. For more than three decades, cricketer turned politician Sidhu has been haunted by the incident and its legal ramifications. He recently resigned as Punjab Congress head following his party's defeat in state elections.

The victim's family had called for more serious charges against Sidhu, as well as a review of a Supreme Court judgement exonerating Sidhu in 2018. Sidhu had previously opposed the family's review petition. The Supreme Court issued its decision on the appeal of the Congress leader today.
