Gyanvapi row: Court orders sealing of area where 'Shivling found' during survey
17-05-2022 Tue 06:51
A Varanasi court on Monday ordered the district administration to seal the location in the mosque complex where a Shivling was allegedly discovered during a court-ordered videography survey that had already concluded.
The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee has appealed the order to the Supreme Court, where it had already filed a petition against the videography survey. It stated that the Shivling-like thing was component of the fountain in the wuzu (ablution) area.
In response to the court judgement, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board stated that the "Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi is a mosque and shall stay so." This version has also been supported by MIM MP Asaduddin Owaishi.
