Farmer digs giant water well in one acre in fight against drought

Maharashtra: Here is a perfect example to prove the proverb 'Where there is a will there's a way'. Maruti Bajgude, a resident of Padalsingi village in the drought-hit Beed district. To solve the water problem, Maruti has dug the biggest well in one acre of his land and this 41 feet deep well and 202 feet wide can provide water to his 12 acres for four years. He spent Rs 1.5 crores and it stores around 10 crores liters of water.

He added that he gave the mud to IRB for the construction of roads. Speaking to the media, Maruti said that now he is on a plan to grow some fruit crops on his farmland. He asked the farmers to group together to dig the wells like this to solve the irrigation water problem.
