Adilabad district: Life imprisonment for former AIMIM leader in murder case

A fast-track court in Telangana's Adilabad district convicted a former AIMIM leader to life in jail on Monday for the deaths of his political adversary Syed Zameer, his brother Syed Mannan, and his nephew Syed Mohtesin.

On December 18, 2020, Mohammed Farooq Ahmed, former deputy chairman of Adilabad municipality, opened fire, killing a former corporator and injured two others in Adilabad town.

Farooq was found guilty in three counts, while two other defendants were acquitted. The main accused was sentenced to life in prison for murder. Farooq was also fined Rs 12,000 in all three charges by the court. It also gave him the right to appeal the judgement to a higher court.
