Telangana Minister KTR requested almost Rs 8000 crore in funding in the forthcoming Union Budget for different projects undertaken by the state's Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department (MAUD). Telangana's Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Rama Rao claimed in a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that the overall cost of the different projects is about Rs 50,000 crore and requested funding of more than Rs 7,778 crore. Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), i.e. a Metro Neo network along the KPHB - Kokapet - Narsingi line in Hyderabad, was among the projects for which funding were sought.

The Minister asked that the Union government fund 15% of the project's total cost (Rs 450 crore). KTR went on to say that the state government has launched several initiatives, including the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), Model Corridors Development, and Hyderabad Road Development, to improve the transportation network not only in Hyderabad, but throughout the Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA). He has emphasised the need for a stronger sewage network in Hyderabad, citing the state government's ambitious Comprehensive Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP).
