In a domestic abuse case, a Vijayawada court ordered former Andhra Pradesh BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana, his wife, and son to pay Rs 1 crore in compensation to his daughter-in-law. The Vijayawada First Additional Chief Metropolitan Court has also asked the police to provide protection to the petitioner, Srilakshmi Keerti. The former minister, his wife Kanna Vijayalakshmi, and their son Kanna Nagaraju have also been ordered to shelter Keerti and her daughter and pay Rs 50,000 per month if they fail to do so.

In the judgement issued, the court directed the respondents to pay the amounts within three months, and stated that if they did not do so within that time, they would have to pay 12% interest.

Kanna Nagaraju married Keerti in a love marriage on May 10, 2006. In 2013, their daughter was born.

Later, Keerti filed a domestic abuse complaint against her in-laws and husband. She has alleged that Nagaraju had made extramarital relations with another woman and was harassing her since then.
