Sania Mirza announces to retire from tennis after this season
Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis sensation, will retire at the end of current season. She has opted to retire at the end of the 2022 season. Sania made the declaration after losing in the first round of women's doubles at the Australian Open. Mirza, 35, and her Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok were defeated 4-6, 6-7 in one hour and 37 minutes in Australia by Tamara Zidansek and Kaja Juvan.
Sania, who is now rated 68th in the world, is a former World No. 1 in doubles and has a career-high rating of 27 in singles.
