Visuals from Coonoor where IAF Chopper crashed with top Army officers, including CDS Rawat, onboard
On Wednesday, a senior Indian Air Force chopper transporting top personnel crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. According to the passenger manifest of the IAF Mi-17 V5 Helicopter from Delhi to Sulur obtained by Republic TV, a total of 9 people were on board. In the chopper were Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Defence Assistant to CDS Brigadier LS Lidder, SO to CDS Lt. Col. Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kumar, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar, Lance Naik B Sai Teja, and Havaldar Satpal.Furthermore, before the Cabinet meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh updated Prime Minister Modi about the disaster. While the CDS is being treated in the hospital, Singh is being prepared to depart towards the crash scene.
