Risk of reinfection from Omicron three times higher than any other variant- Study
According to a South African research of infections since the start of the pandemic, the probability of reinfection from the omicron coronavirus variation is three times higher than for any earlier variants such as delta and beta. The researchers based their findings on data acquired from South Africa's health system on around 2.8 million confirmed coronavirus infections between March 2020 and November 27, according to an emailed statement from the authors. 35,670 of them were suspected reinfections. However, the experts emphasised that further research may be required before claiming the influence.According to Juliet Pulliam, a South African epidemiologist and one of the study's authors, vaccines are still likely to provide the most effective protection against severe illness and death.
