Video: IAF evacuates 10 stranded in rising waters of Chitravathi river in Anantapur district

An IAF Mi-17 helicopter evacuated 10 people stranded in Chitravathi river in Anantapur district. On receiving a distress call, the chopper took off from IAF Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The helicopter reached the rescue site negotiating inclement weather conditions. The chopper then safely rescued all stranded people from waters of the fast-flowing river. Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in many districts of Andhra Pradesh. SDRF, police, fire services personnel rescued tens of people from Kadapa and Chittoor districts. In Kadapa district, 33 relief camps have been opened and 1,200 persons were lodged in them. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke with district collectors and asked them to step up rescue and relief measures.
