Pakistan allows Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav to appeal death sentence
The International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) bill, 2021, was approved by the joint session of parliament on Wednesday, allowing jailed Indian Kulbhushan Jadhav to submit a review appeal against his sentence.
India appealed Jadhav's conviction to the ICJ. After hearing both parties, the court delivered a ruling in July 2019, suggested that Pakistan grant India consular access to Jadhav and ensuring that his conviction be reviewed. Kulbhushan was arrested in Balochistan in March 2016 on spying charges and sentenced to death the following year. The allegations levelled against the former navy officer were dismissed by India.
