By the conclusion of the fiscal year, the Indian government wants to privatise 13 airports run by the state-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI). The AAI's chairman, Sanjeev Kumar, has given several hints on this, stating that a complete report has been presented to the centre after the suggestion. By establishing a bidding process, the AAI has planned to connect seven small airports with six big ones. There have been reports of Varanasi connecting with Kushinagar and Gaya, Amritsar connecting with Kangra, Bhubaneswar connecting with Tirupati, Raipur connecting with Aurangabad, Indore connecting with Jabalpur, and Trichy connecting with Hubli. Following Tirupati, there is a likelihood that Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram airports would be privatised through bidding.
