WHO rings alarm bells, Hyderabad residents inhaling air equivalent to 2 cigarettes per day
The rising air pollution levels in Hyderabad city is proving dangerous to residents. According to the recent WHO revised guidelines, the hazardous particulate matter (PM) in the air is seven times higher than the prescribed limit in the city. Scientists say every citizen of Hyderabad smoked two cigarettes a day throughout the last year. Particles emitting from burning fuels and release of waste from industries is equivalent to smoking a cigarette every day, according to scientists at Berkeley Earth.
