Atchan Naidu apologises for his comments against Speaker; Kakani Govardhan Reddy reacts
K Atchannaidu, senior legislator and president of the Telugu Desam Party's Andhra Pradesh unit, apologised on Tuesday for comments he made in July about state assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram. According to the summons issued by the committee last month, Atchan appeared before the privileges committee of the state assembly, which is chaired by YSR Congress MLA Kakani Goverdhan Reddy. The committee had suggested that he appear in person because it was dissatisfied with his response to the allegations levelled against the Speaker. K Atchannaidu claimed that his alleged remarks were released to the media without his signature inadvertently. He formally apologised for his remarks against the Speaker and stated that he was withdrawing them. Goverdhan Reddy told the media that Atchannaidu had withdrawn his remarks and that his press note had been leaked by mistake. Kakani stated that Atchannaidu's statement would be dispersed to committee members shortly. “A decision will be made based on the perspectives of all committee members,” he stated.
