Pegasus snooping row: Centre not to file affidavit in Supreme Court
According to media reports, the Centre stated on Monday that it will not submit a comprehensive affidavit in response to repeated requests for an independent investigation into the Pegasus spyware affair. The central government informed the Supreme Court that it has nothing to conceal, which is why it has decided to form a panel of domain experts on its own. In this case, the Supreme Court is expected to issue an interim order. On September 7, a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice N V Ramana gave the Centre additional time to consider whether to file a supplementary answer to the petitions. The appeals are in response to allegations that government agencies snooped on prominent individuals, lawmakers, and journalists using Israeli company NSO's Pegasus spyware.
