Vijayawada Railway station put up for sale by centre!
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's NDA government is on a privatisation spree in the name of monetization. Previously, the Central Government, which had called for bids to monetize the Vijayawada railway station, was reported to have started the process once again. According to reports, the Central Government has placed the 133-year-old Vijayawada A1 railway station up for sale. The unauthorised sale is being conducted in the guise of monetization. The monetization covers not just the railway station but also the railway assets in the Vijayawada division. Satyanarayanapuram Railway Colony was reportedly featured on the list as well. The private sector was invited to utilise the division's goods sheds as godowns. Following a demand by leaders of the South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) to oppose the Railway Board's decision, workers in the division have decided to stage demonstrations.
