EC postpones by-election to Huzurabad, Badvel on request of Telugu states

The Election Commission of India postponed by-election to Huzurabad and Badvel constituencies on the request of Telugu states. The poll body held a meeting with Chief Secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers and took their opinion on holding elections to 31 assembly and 3 parliamentary constituencies. Majority states including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have urged the Election Commission to defer elections as major festivals are round the corner.

Schedule for holding by-election to three assembly seats in West Bengal and one in Odisha on September 30 announced by the EC on Saturday. The results will be out on October 3.
