TRS MLA Jeevan Reddy Vs BJP Raghunandan Rao on ED raid at Telangana Minister
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued notices to many granite businesses in Karimnagar, including Swetha Agencies, which is purportedly owned by BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, for allegedly breaching the Foreign Exchange Management (FEMA) Act, 1999. In Telangana, the subject has become a contentious political issue. The leaders of the ruling party and the opposition BJP have been engaged in a verbal spat. During a discussion with a TV channel, TRS MLA Jeevan Reddy questioned the BJP's targeting of the minister ahead of the Huzurabad by-election in an old case. In response, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao said that the minister was given notice because he engaged in corruption. Previously, BJP MP Bandi Sanjay had reported to the Center that the minister's granite business had breached FEMA rules.
