In a jail, he was awaiting execution. According to estimates, he murdered up to 130 people. According to prison authorities, Rodney James died of natural causes at a hospital in California's San Joaquin Valley. Alcala was sentenced to an additional 25 years to life in prison in 2013 after pleading guilty to two murders in New York. He was accused again in 2016 when DNA evidence connected him to the 1977 murder of a 28-year-old woman. Alcala was dubbed the 'Dating Game Killer' since he appeared on the television programme 'The Dating Game' in 1978.
