Meet Revathi: 23-year old Railway ticket collector competing at Tokyo Olympics
Revathi Veeramani, a 23-year-old sprinter-turned-railway ticket collector from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is on her way to represent India in the Tokyo Olympics. She will compete in the 4X400 mixed relay. Revathi Veeramani's parents died while she was a child. Her grandmother supported her and assisted her in achieving her objective. However, financial problems were a barrier to her achievement of her objective. Revathi has always been drawn to running since she was a child, but her grandma lacked the financial resources to support her ambition. She used to run without shoes since she couldn't afford them. At a zonal-level competition, she was seen by coach K. Kannan of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), and her skill piqued his interest. There was no turning back since then. Along with Revathi, two more Tamil Nadu females, Subha Venkatesan and Dhanalakshmi Sekar, are members of India's 4X400 mixed relay team.
