PM Modi's third wave warning to state CMs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has alerted all states where Covid cases are on rise. During a meeting with the chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Kerala, PM Modi has insisted the state governments to take aggressive steps to avoid the third wave and emphasised the need of continuing with the test, track, treat, and vaccinate approach. The PM said that these states accounted for 80% of the new Covid cases last week. He said that funds are being made available to all the states to create additional intensive care unit (ICU) beds, the expansion of testing capacity, and other requirements. “Centre has already released an emergency covid response package of over Rs 23,000 crore in this regard,” he stated.
