WHO issues warning: 'We are now in the early stages of a third wave'
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning to all nations about the early phases of COVID-19's third wave, which is causing a spike in the Delta variant. It said that Delta variant is now active in 111 countries. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "Unfortunately...we are already in the early stages of a third wave." The expansion of the Delta variety, coupled with increasing social mobility and the uneven implementation of established public health interventions, according to WHO's director-general, is driving a rise in both case numbers and fatalities. Tedros reiterated WHO's demand for a large-scale immunisation campaign in every country.
