Ready to set up academy in AP if land allotted, says Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari
Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Sports University by the Delhi government. Speaking on the occasion, Malleswari said that infrastructure for sports has improved considerably in the last few years. To a question, the Olympian said that she is ready to set up an academy in Andhra Pradesh if land is allotted to her. “I want to train young women in weightlifting,” she mentioned and added that the AP government in 2000 had promised to allocate land in Srikakulam district.
