135-year-old Warangal Central jail demolished
Warangal: Under tight police security, the officials demolished the Warangal Central Jail on Sunday to construct a 24-storey multi-superspeciality hospital. The demolition was taken up with several earth movers on Sunday and media was not allowed near the campus. It is learnt that the demolition was carried out on a war-footing. On Friday evening, the jail officials handed over the campus to MGM Hospital Superintendent Chandrasekhar. Officials have shifted the prisoners to various jails in the state. It is learnt that the 135-year-old jail constructed during the Nizam regime with the steel imported from England.
