Polavaram Project: Godavari water released to delta region via spillway
Polavaram Project, the world's largest multi-purpose irrigation project, has reaped its first harvest of success. For the first time, on Friday, June 11, 2021, the process of releasing water from the Polavaram project to the Godavari Delta area began. On the occasion of Godavari water diversion via approach channel to spillway, officials from the Department of Water Resources and MEIL conducted Pooja at Polavaram. When water is released from the Godavari into the Approach Canal, it will flow via the spillway and river sluice gates to the Dhavaleswaram Cotton Barrage and then through the Central Delta and the whole Godavari Delta through the eastern and western canals. Ministers Anil Kumar Yadav and Alla Nani have virtually participated in the event.
