Religious, political events behind increase of corona cases in India: WHO
The World Health Organisation (WHO) stated that several political and religious mass gatherings are the reason behind the massive surge in coronavirus cases in India. The WHO in its weekly Epidemiological update mentioned that viruses in the B.1.617 lineage first reported in October 2020 in India. The resurgence of covid cases and alarming spike in deaths in India is due to B.1.617 and other variants in the circulation. The WHO made the statements after a risk assessment of the situation and stated the resurgence and acceleration of coronavirus transmission in India due to religious and political mass gatherings.
