WHO approves China’s Sinopharm covid vaccine for emergency use

World Health Organisation (WHO) gave emergency use authorisation for Sinopharm vaccine developed by China for Covid-19. It is the sixth vaccine to receive the approval from the WHO. The Chinese vaccine has 79 per cent efficacy.
WHO Assistant Director General Mariângela said that China can meet the vaccine demand of several countries. Sinopharm vaccine has to be administered for the aged above 18 years in two doses within a gap of four weeks. So far, the Indian government gave approval for Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V vaccines and Pfizer vaccine is under examination.
