No equity share for AP govt in Visakha Steel Plant says FM Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha
Giving a written reply to the questions asked by YSRCP MPs MVV Satyanarayana and G Madhavi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that the AP government has no share in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). She mentioned that the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave approval for 100 per cent disinvestment of the VSP. The BJP-led Modi government has defended the privatisation of the steel plant by saying that it will lead to infusion of capital and technology and better management practices. The Finance Minister further mentioned that disinvestment will create direct and indirect employment opportunities.
