Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy sentenced to one year in jail
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will likely serve his one-year prison term at his wife Carla Bruni's mansion after being found guilty of trying to bribe a judge. The 66-year-old was convicted of corruption and influence peddling after a three-week trial in Paris. He was sentenced to three years, two of which are suspended, and he has to undergo jail term for remaining one year at home wearing an electronic tag. Sarkozy will also remain a free man while his lawyer appeals the verdict - a process which could take years.
