Galwan hero Colonel Santosh Babu awarded with Mahavir Chakra

The nation will never forget the greatness of the Colonel Bikumalla Santhosh Babu who led his troops against the Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in June 2020. He sacrificed his life for motherland during the fierce hand-to-hand fight with Chinese troops. Now, the Indian government honoured Santhosh Babu posthumously with Mahavir Chakra, the second-highest military award.
It is known that Twenty Indian Army personnel sacrificed their lives in the fight on 15th June in Galwan Valley. Four Soldiers Havildar (Gunner), K Palani, Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren, Sepoy Gurtej Singh and Naik Deepak Singh also laid down their lives in the fight have been named for Vir Chakra awards posthumously.
