Nimmagadda writes letter to Union Cabinet Secretary seeking Central govt staff for panchayat elections
State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar wrote a letter to the Union Cabinet Secretary seeking services of the Central government for holding panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh as the state government employees expressed unwillingness due to fear of contracting coronavirus. However, they said that employees can discharge duties in panchayat elections once vaccinated. Nimmagadda wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary to give vaccines to government staff on a priority basis but the Central government’s guidelines say health workers should be given vaccines first. Whether the AP government employees will take part in panchayat elections or not can be known by Monday evening.
