Will involve in panchayat elections only after assurance from AP govt: Bopparaju

Responding after the Supreme Court’s verdict on panchayat elections, Andhra Pradesh Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu said on Monday that government employees will be involved in panchayat elections only after assurance from the state government. To a question, he stated that government staff is worried over losing lives if they discharge duties in panchayat elections. Bopparaju made it clear that employees want vaccination prior to participating in panchayat polls. Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has rescheduled the dates of holding elections. The first phase of panchayat elections will be held on February 21.
