AP SEC releases notification for four-phase panchayat polls

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday released a notification for holding panchayat elections in four phases. Speaking to the media, State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar said that panchayat elections in the first phase would be held on February 5. Nominations would be accepted from January 25th onwards and the last date for acceptance of nominations is January 27. On January 28, nominations would be examined and withdrawal of nominations by January 31. The entire process of panchayat elections would be completed with the counting of votes and announcement of results on February 17. However, Vizianagaram and Prakasam districts are exempted from first phase elections.
