Andhra Pradesh Government Employees' Federation (APGEF) on Friday filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) seeking postponement of panchayat elections. The AP High Court on Thursday struck down the verdict pronounced by a single judge making way for the State Election Commission (SEC) to hold panchayat polls in February. The APGEF chairman K Venkatram Reddy said that several government employees had succumbed to coronavirus and in a grip of fear to discharge duties for panchayat elections. He stated that government staff would be ready for taking part in panchayat polls once they are vaccinated.
