Panchayat polls: SEC to take up issue of AP govt not transferring collectors with Guv

The State Election Commission (SEC) would be taking up the issue of AP government not transferring the Chittoor and Guntur collectors with Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan. State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh wrote a letter to the AP government in March 2020 to transfer collectors as they failed to control law and order during MPTC and ZPTC elections. The SEC faulted the Jagan government for not following the commission’s orders. As per information, Ramesh spoke to Joint Collectors of both districts on conducting panchayat elections. Meanwhile, the petition filed by the AP government in the Supreme Court opposing panchayat elections will come up for hearing on Friday.
