A delegation of the Andhra Pradesh Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) led by its chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu on Tuesday met Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and submitted a memorandum opposing the State Election Commission’s decision to hold panchayat polls in February. Speaking to the media, Venkateswarlu faulted the SEC for releasing the schedule for panchayat polls without taking the AP government’s objections into confidence. He stated that the entire world including India is yet to overcome the novel and deadly coronavirus. “The notification for holding panchayat polls in February came as a shock to government teachers and employees,” he mentioned.
