UK woman returnee to AP tests positive for new Covid-19 variant

A woman, who returned to Andhra Pradesh from the United Kingdom (UK), has tested positive for the new Covid-19 variant. The samples of a woman and her son belonging to Rajahmundry were sent to the CCMB in Hyderabad and Pune’s NIV. The CCMB and NIV have confirmed that she had contracted a new coronavirus strain. Till now, 1,423 persons came to AP from the UK in which 12 tested positive for the coronavirus. The results of the new strain in the samples of those who tested positive are still awaited.
