Opposition parties to meet President Kovind today over new farm laws
Representatives from 24 political parties plan to meet President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday, ahead of the talks between protesting farmers and the Centre to resolve the deadlock over the new farm sector laws. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is expected to be part of the delegation along with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, CPM’s Sitaram Yechury, CPI’s D Raja and TR Balu. The opposition parties would be meeting on Wednesday afternoon prior to calling on the President. The talks between farmer union groups and the Central government were inconclusive on Tuesday evening.
