India terms Canadian PM comments on farmers’ stir as ill-informed and unwarranted
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s comments on farmers’ stir have triggered a diplomatic row. India reacted sharply to his comment and termed his remarks as ill-informed and unwarranted, especially when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country. Official sources said India also lodged a formal protest with Canada against the remarks made by Trudeau and members of his Cabinet. “It is also best that diplomatic conversations are not misrepresented for political purposes,” said MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava. While addressing the Sikh community virtually on the occasion of Gurpurab, Trudeau had described the situation as concerning and said that Canada will always be there to protect the right of peaceful protest.
