Five storey building collapses in Chennai, no casualties reported

CHENNAI: An old five-storey building collapsed in Royapettah, Chennai on Monday night and no casualties were reported. According to the reports, a building on Peter's Road just opposite to New College college collapsed after the tenant and her son left the premises. As per reports, the building was originally constructed by a Kerala based businessman and there were 14 tenants in the building in the past. It is said that a former Congress MP purchased the building from the owner and only one tenant is staying in the building. The tenant is using the building occasionally and the incident took place after the tenant left the building on Monday night. After getting the information, the police and fire rescue team rushed to the spot and started the rescue operations.
