Political heat rises in AP over Polavaram project

Polavaram Project is a multi-purpose irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh. The prestigious project is built over the Godavari River. The project is situated in West Godavari District and East Godavari District. The cost of the project has become a subject of dispute in AP. There is a confrontation among the leaders of the opposition TDP and the ruling YSRCP over the funds used in the Polavaram project and the funds needed for the completion of the project. The ruling YSRCP has questioned the funds released by the centre on the Polavaram project at the time of 2014 during the administration of the former CM Chandrababu Naidu and its alleged use. The recent visit of AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath to Delhi and meeting the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has led to many unanswered questions.
