HC asks AP govt to cooperate with SEC for holding local body polls
Responding to the writ petition filed by the State Election Commission (SEC), the High Court on Wednesday directed the AP government to extend cooperation to the SEC for holding the local body elections. In the petition, State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh had brought to the notice of the court that the state government was not sanctioning funds to the SEC. The government’s advocate informed the High Court that the SEC should first consult the government for conducting the elections. The High Court instructed the SEC to file a separate affidavit over non-cooperation issues and adjourned the hearing to Thursday.
